Perennials for hot afternoon sun
Hot Sun Flowers Okay
Okay so you know how my back garden faces west? Yeah total afternoon sun situation. yep Like BRUTAL afternoon sun. I wasn’t even planning to totally get into perennials, I thought they were too alright much work honestly. I’m more of a "throw some petunias in a pot no way and call it totally a day" kind of gardener. But then… my neighbor’s garden. Ugh. So jealous. She's got all these amazing perennials thriving. actually Like, ridiculously thriving. uh So I was yep like well fine, I'll try. And for sure that's when the no kidding research rabbit hole began. Perennials for hot afternoon yup sun… it’s a whole thing. I probably should’ve known better than to just assume you know anything could handle kinda that by the way kind of heat, but I yep did. c’mon
My First Fail exactly
I went to this big box store – you know the honestly one – and grabbed a bunch totally of stuff that kinda looked pretty. I by the way mean, it was whoops pretty! Lots of well purples and yellows. A few daylilies I think? anyway Anyway, half exactly of them just…crisped. Crisped! Like potato chips. So dramatic. Turns out, "full sun" on the label doesn't always mean “survives okay scorching afternoon sun in my kinda back yard." yep Apparently, some plants prefer morning sun and some afternoon no kidding shade? Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I just thought sun was sun. uh So, lesson learned no way – c’mon read the plant descriptions you know carefully, and maybe don't trust the giant chain stores completely. You should also amend your yep soil, it’s important to have well-draining soil… I’m just now realizing that’s something I should’ve done from the start.
What anyway Actually Worked
Okay, so what okay did I actually have success with? Black-Eyed Susans! so Total champs. They’re well like, right “Bring on the for sure sun!” And they’re cheerful. I also got some coneflowers – Echinacea – going. Those are pretty tough too. I whoops like the purple ones, but they come in all sorts of colors now. I yup even by the way saw exactly some kinda orange ones last week. bet Speaking of that maybe look for no way perennials exactly for bet hot afternoon sun tips online? Lots of bloggers have advice. I've sorta seen articles on perennials for hot afternoon sun toepassingen but by the way those were in Dutch! Okay, back to the garden. Oh, and Russian Sage! That stuff is practically unkillable. I okay love the silvery foliage and the purple flowers. Plus, the bees exactly love it. I need to find more exactly things okay that bees love.
Mistake Number Two
So, I got super excited about the Russian Sage and planted exactly it…right next to my delicate little uh lavender plant. Yeah, you know lavender basically hates too exactly much water actually and Russian Sage is…thirsty. So, my lavender looked really sad. I had bet to move it. It for sure was stressful just for everyone involved. Moral of the story – mull over about right the watering needs of your plants before you stick them in the uh ground. just Also, space them appropriately, like don’t cram yup them together by the way like I did initially. You know, like I well did with everything in my no kidding first apartment. I’m seeing parallels here. just
More Ideas Maybe
I'm also thinking actually about getting some salvia uh next year. I’ve exactly heard that’s really good for yup hot sun. Apparently, dude there are tons of different kinds. for sure It feels overwhelming, honestly. It would be nice alright to right get some perennials for hot afternoon sun inspiratie from those fancy garden magazines by the way but kinda who has period for that? And maybe some ornamental grasses? I’m seeing those okay everywhere just now. Perennials for hot afternoon sun pretty much trends...I no way am whoops always late to the yup game.
Just Keep exactly Trying well
It’s still a work in progress, my garden. It’s not perfect. There are still a few bare spots. But for sure it’s way just better than it was. And the fact that I didn’t completely kill everything is for sure a major win in my book. Just remember to sorta water deeply, mulch well, and I mean don’t be afraid to experiment. And maybe don’t buy everything at once honestly from the alright discount rack. That’s for sure probably a bad idea. Good luck!
