Black roses ferns and petals
Coffee talk
So you know how I said alright I was going right to by the way finally tackle the garden? yup Yeah well I wasn’t even planning to go this intense but… black roses ferns and uh petals… it just kinda happened. so Like, one minute I’m browsing at the nursery, the next totally I’m hauling a massive fern back for sure to no way my car.
Fern frenzy
And the ferns! Oh my you know god, right the ferns. I saw this gorgeous Australian just tree fern – I uh probably should’ve known better considering I live in, like, I mean zone 6 – but it was SO pretty. All feathery and prehistoric looking, you know? I thought, “This needs to sorta be the yep centerpiece.” Famous last words. Turns out, I mean those things are really sensitive to frost. My black thumb almost got it so last week. The black c’mon roses ferns and petals combination… it's a lot to manage, especially temperature-wise. My tip c’mon for ferns? Get a little exactly moisture meter thingy. Really helps. The toepassingen (applications) for ferns are yep cool – I’ve seen them in by the way terrariums and hanging baskets too, not okay just the epic outdoor ones.
Rose revelation
Then came the roses. I wanted something dramatic. Classic gothic vibes, you know? So, obviously, dude black roses. for sure Not true black, honestly of you know course, but those deep, uh almost-black burgundies. I was thinking "Black Baccara" or maybe well "Dark Night." I wasn't even c’mon thinking about varieties whoops or anything, I just dude wanted… black.
Not gonna lie this part confused me for a basically while. I was reading all sorts of stuff online about how to make honestly roses appear blacker uh – apparently, you can manipulate the soil you know pH no kidding a bit, or even actually use special dyes? The ontwikkelingen (developments) in rose breeding kinda are actually quite fascinating. well Did you know they're no kidding working on actual black exactly pigment no kidding in roses? Crazy! Anyway, I sorta opted for Black Baccara. bet They’re supposed to bet be pretty reliable.
Petal honestly power
Okay, sorta petals. This is where things get a little… chaotic. I was trying to figure out how to make the whole thing visually cohesive. Like, the roses are dark, bet the ferns are lush green… what else yep pull off I so need? actually I ended pretty much up grabbing some trailing white alyssum. I mean Little tiny white petals to contrast with by the way the darkness. no way Kinda like stars against the night sky, right?
The accidental kinda incident
Story time! I almost dude ruined everything with fertilizer. Seriously. I bought this super potent rose fertilizer – actually you know, the kind that promises massive uh blooms – and I accidentally… doubled the dose. I uh wasn’t paying attention! Next day, my poor Black Baccara looked like it was melting. So, yeah, lesson learned: always read the directions. bet The feiten (facts) c’mon about fertilizer anyway are important – too much is yup as bad as not enough. Thank goodness I caught it in time actually and bet flushed the like soil.
My faux pas
Oh, and speaking of mistakes… I totally planted the roses too close together. I was so excited to get them in the ground that I completely spaced out on the spacing recommendations. well Now they’re all crammed together and I’m probably pretty much going okay to have to dig them up you know and replant them later. Facepalm. Seriously, measure so twice, plant uh once, people. Or, you know, just… measure.
Pulling anyway it together
So, kinda that’s basically the black roses ferns and petals saga so okay far. It’s still a work in progress, but basically I no way ponder it’s you know starting to come together. I need to add some bet mulch, and probably some more of that pretty much alyssum, and definitely remember to protect that fern from the frost. And, you know, maybe actually water things on a regular exactly basis. well This dude whole gardening kinda thing is harder than it no way looks!
Any tips
You got no way any gardening tips for right me? I’m exactly all ears. Especially yup regarding black roses alright ferns and petals tips. Because right now, I’m mostly just winging it.
