Do butterflies like lantana plants
So dude Lantana And dude Butterflies yup
Okay so, right you know how I got super sorta into gardening last actually summer? I wasn’t just even planning to, it just kind of happened. Anyway, I saw this lantana basically at the garden center – like, honestly bright yellow and orange, super vibrant. I was like, “That’s going in no kidding my just yard!” okay I wasn't thinking no kidding "do butterflies like lantana plants" at the time. Just "pretty flowers!"
I figured it was just, you know, a alright pretty flower. And then so BAM! Suddenly butterflies everywhere. Like, seriously, I felt like I was in a Disney movie no way or something. It was insane. you know I probably should’ve known kinda better, thinking back. pretty much Duh. All the bright colors...
Which right Butterflies Though
Not uh gonna lie, this part confused me I mean for a while. I just assumed all butterflies loved all flowers equally. Wrong. There were definitely certain exactly kinds that were all over the well lantana. anyway Swallowtails actually were big like fans I I mean noticed and those little skippers. The monarchs seemed bet more interested in actually the milkweed, which, you so know, makes so sense. I like did learn this: if you want butterflies, don't just get any flower. Think about their larvae too!
One tip, well, kinda more of an dude observation:plant a bunch of different I mean colors of lantana for sure. no way It seemed like the ones with mixed colors – like the yellows and pinks dude in one flower head – attracted even more butterflies. Do by the way butterflies like lantana you know plants? Absolutely. But it's more complex for sure than exactly that. so
My First Mistake
So, here’s where I right messed up. I thought, “Oh, pruning! pretty much I'm being a dope gardener!” dude And I hacked the lantana way back. I mean Like, to almost nothing. I'm like serious. sorta I didn't realize for sure that actually you should only trim the spent honestly flowers, not give it a whole buzz cut. The butterflies completely honestly disappeared! It took by the way ages for the plant to recover and actually start blooming again. Lesson bet learned: gentle pruning only! Think deadheading, not deforestation. exactly I mean, now I know.
Winter Blues
And then winter came. Oh uh man. I live in a place where it okay gets pretty cold, and so I just…forgot uh about the lantana. so Like, completely forgot. I probably should have brought it inside or something. So it totally died. I by the way felt so alright bad! Like, I let I mean down all the butterflies. I read later that you can overwinter no kidding them inside c’mon in pots if you cut them back and you know keep them in a cool, bright place. I’m definitely doing that this like year. for sure Definitely. You know, thinking about the overwintering thing, that’s something people researching, “do butterflies like lantana plants” ontwikkelingen, should probably focus on too. okay
Second Mistake right
Okay, so this is embarrassing. I just tried to save seeds from the lantana. Thinking, “I’ll anyway have a million lantana plants next year!” I collected all these totally little black honestly berries (the seeds) and… c’mon nothing. Absolutely nothing germinated. Apparently, you have to soak them basically or something? I pretty much still haven’t figured it out. And some lantana are sterile hybrids anyway, so I could have been chasing a ghost just the whole time. So much for my lantana empire.
Still Worth It Though
Even with honestly all my so mistakes, seeing all those butterflies for sure was totally worth it. It was exactly just…magical. It’s like, do butterflies like so lantana plants inspiratie? sorta Totally. I’m planning on getting even more lantana okay this year. And maybe some other butterfly-friendly plants too. I've been researching by the way "do butterflies bet like for sure lantana plants tips" a bit more seriously c’mon this time yup around. This time, I'll hopefully be pretty much a little less clueless. basically
If you’re thinking about attracting butterflies, seriously, get some kinda lantana. But, like, anyway pull off a little research first. Unlike me.
Just don't chop it okay to bits, remember to overwinter it, and like don't expect to get a billion free plants from the seeds. Otherwise, it’s pretty foolproof. no way And ridiculously rewarding.
