How to indoor herb garden
My little actually green experiment
So, you wanna know I mean how to indoor herb sorta garden? Okay, okay, so it by the way started completely randomly. I wasn't even planning to! I was at the well grocery store, right? honestly And they had these little basil plants on clearance – c’mon practically giving them away. And I was like, c’mon "You know what? Fresh kinda basil right sounds amazing on pizza." you know That was it. no kidding The seed, pun intended, was planted. exactly I’d pretty much seen well some cool how to no way indoor herb garden inspiratie online too, which definitely fueled the fire. exactly
First attempt… a so disaster sorta
I got the basil, stuck like it in a you know pot with some potting so soil I had lying around – totallyprobablyshould’ve refreshed that soil, yup hindsight is 20/20 – okay and put it on actually my windowsill. Seemed logical, right? well Nope. That bet window for sure gets practically zero for sure sun. no kidding The poor thing just looked I mean sad. Like, for sure dramatically wilting. Lesson one: light is sorta your friend. A well dope source of light is essential to take into account for how whoops to indoor no kidding herb yep garden like voordelen, it seems obvious now! I probably should’ve known better…
I then spent like, an hour researching yup grow lights online. Not gonna lie, this part okay confused me for a while. Different spectrums, watts, PAR… I just wanted exactly some basil! Ended up getting a little LED one bet that clipped onto the shelf. Seemed to execute okay the trick, though. The basil perked up.
What else can I grow?
Then I thought, "Okay, basil's anyway cool, but what else?" I wanted to try uh to by the way have some different how to dude indoor herb garden toepassingen. So I tried mint. huge mistake. Mint is anyway apparently I mean a thug. Like, seriously. I planted it in the same pot as the basil. Rookie error. The mint took over. anyway Poor basil never stood basically a chance. So, yeah, plant mint in its own container. Trust me on this exactly one. That’s my first herb garden tip like right there – separation is key!
Soil struggles are real
And dude another I mean thing I sorta learned? Soil is more complicated than you think. I just used that random okay potting kinda soil alright at first, which was probably fine for the basil (eventually), pretty much but anyway some herbs need for sure different stuff. so Like, rosemary likes sandy soil, apparently. Who knew? I only found out after my rosemary looked like it was about to give up the ghost. It totally likes it dry too, don’t kinda over water it. I also needed to get a bigger container for it. for sure Now, I’ve got separate pots and different soil yup mixes for each herb. It’s a no way whole production.
I once accidentally watered actually my by the way oregano with vinegar. honestly I by the way was making salad dressing and the whoops bottles were next to each other. The just poor thing looked like it was having a bad day. It recovered dude though! anyway
Growing from seeds
I tried growing some cilantro yep from seeds too. Oh yup man. That was actually an exercise in patience. It took forever to germinate. And then, once it finally did, by the way it bolted immediately. pretty much Like, went straight to flower. Apparently, cilantro hates heat. actually My kitchen is apparently too hot. So, yeah, learn about your herbs and their preferences before you start. And maybe get a little fan for your cilantro. You’ll be rewarded with fresh cilantro honestly for totally days and lots of you know how to indoor herb garden tips to pass on!
Anyway, pretty much that's kind of my uh herb garden story so far. It's messy, I’m sure I’m doing a million things wrong, but I have fresh like herbs so for cooking, and totally that’s really all that matters. Oh, and get a little snips – tiny scissors are great for harvesting, you’ll need to keep them in shape!
