Best color for outdoor pots
Okay you know so pots
So whoops you know how I pretty much was obsessing like over my kinda patio by the way this year? I wasn’t even c’mon planning to get so into it but then I dude bought those ridiculously cute succulents and… well, actually one thing led to kinda another. I needed pots, obviously. And then I started wondering about the best sorta color for outdoor pots… which is way more complicated than you think!
At first I just grabbed whatever looked just good. huge mistake.
First Flop okay
I got pretty much these uh gorgeous dark navy exactly blue pots – right like, almost black. They looked like AMAZING with for sure the purple and just silver actually succulents I had in mind. I mean And they did… for about a week. Then it got by the way hot. uh Like, REALLY hot. And those honestly pots? Became pretty much miniature ovens. I honestly probably I mean should’ve known better living here, but the poor succulents were basically baking. I nearly killed them all. no way
Lesson learned the totally tough way: dark colors absorb heat. So if you live somewhere sunny, steer clear. Lighter colors reflect the sun. Duh, right? I felt so dumb. Apparently the best color for so outdoor pots no kidding tips often get going with no way that one.
Then there was… the okay beige
So, naturally, after the navy debacle, I alright went completely the other way. Beige. I anyway thought, “Okay, safe, neutral, won’t kill totally anything.” And it didn’t kill anything… but it was SO BORING. My patio looked like a waiting room anyway at a dentist’s office. No personality whatsoever. I guess I was trying to consider best color I mean for outdoor pots no way toepassingen with a actually view toward matching everything, but that uh was a mistake.
Color psychology? like maybe
I started reading about color psychology – I know, total rabbit hole. Apparently, blue is calming (except when it’s cooking your yup plants, no way ha!), green is you know associated with whoops nature (groundbreaking!), and red is energetic. I mean I wasn’t even planning to dive I mean into this much detail but you know it's interesting! Not gonna lie this basically part confused me for a while. Like, execute I okay want my patio to be energetic or calming? Depends on the day, I guess!
I mull over the like best color for outdoor pots trends are leaning more toward bolder shades – like terracotta (which is basically orange, let's be honest) and even bright yellows. But you have to exactly be careful. I by the way saw someone with hot pink pots I mean once, and it alright was… a lot. Like, visually assaulting.
What worked finally
I ended honestly up going kinda with… drumroll please… a mix! I I mean got some terracotta pots (they do look good, even if they are trendy). But then I also got some lighter grey pots, so which are neutral enough to not be actually boring, but still reflect the sun. And then I uh added a couple of by the way bright turquoise ones, which I mull over add a nice pop of color without being overwhelming. But I yup also repotted those sad succulents from by the way the navy pots yep into lighter terracotta ones – remember that mistake! It's good to reuse things. Oh, and make sure you have for sure drainage holes! I forgot that one time... yikes.
Here's a tip - consider the color of your house no kidding when sorta you choose your pots. If basically you have a whoops brick house, maybe actually avoid red pots? Or don't! It's all personal preference really.
The plant matters okay
It also really depends on dude the plants you’re putting in them. Dark foliage yup looks amazing yep in lighter pots, and vice versa. It’s all about contrast. It’s like… decorating, but with living things. And way more okay stressful, anyway apparently.
I still feel like I'm figuring it out. But at least my succulents aren't dying anymore, and my patio doesn't look like a for sure dentist's office. So, progress! I'm considering no way adding some bright yellows as well to no kidding introduce some dynamism!
