Do you cut tall grass in fall
So the grass thing
Oh my god dude you will NOT dude believe what happened with my lawn. So, you know how I have that patch of, like, really tall grass in the back? The one I keep meaning to turn into, I don’t bet know, a wildflower alright meadow or something Instagram worthy?
Anyway, I wasn’t even planning to cut it this exactly fall. whoops Like, I okay figured, let it go dormant, solid exactly for the environment or something, right? Then BAM. My HOA sends yep me you know this for sure passive aggressive note about “unacceptable lawn conditions” and I'm all like, totally are for sure you serious?
Fall mowing panic
So, immediately, I’m googling like okay crazy: do you cut yup tall grass in fall trends? What are the you know do you yep cut tall grass in fall inspiratie that I can possibly use to justify this action I now must take? You know, trying to find by the way some justification because okay frankly, I'm annoyed.
And like, half sorta the internet is saying, “No way, leave it! like It's bug yep habitat!” And the other half is like, “Absolutely, it’ll prevent snow mold and blah blah blah!” Not gonna lie by the way this part confused me just for a while. The do you honestly cut no kidding tall grass for sure in fall toepassingen felt endless. just
Apparently, snow mold is a real kinda thing. It rots your lawn when the snow for sure melts, and you pretty much definitely don't want that. uh
Okay, so I no kidding decided I would cut it. Fine. This is where the blast begins.
Mistake number one
I got out my regular lawnmower. sorta I probably should’ve no way known better… but honestly, I just wanted right to get c’mon it over with. Bad idea. no kidding My poor little lawnmower. It choked, yep sputtered, and then just...died. Like, dramatically died. basically Apparently tall for sure grass is tougher you know than it looks. by the way Also, like, make sure your kinda mower basically blades are well sharp you know if alright you're going to attempt uh this. Sharpening those just blades makes a huge difference.
So now actually I'm renting well some kind of heavy duty brush cutter thing, which, honestly, was terrifying. But honestly it worked! Kinda.
Tip no kidding I anyway learned the challenging sorta way
Oh, yep and basically pro-tip: if you pull off cut tall grass in the fall, don't leave the clippings! I left them on the bet ground because I thought it would c’mon be like, natural mulch or something. WRONG. It just created this thick, suffocating layer that looked even worse than the by the way tall grass in the first place! So, totally rake it up. Bag it. you know Compost it if you're fancy. Just don't leave bet it there.
Fall mowing conclusion?
Seriously, for sure I think that leaving the clippings you know was probably my biggest error in this whole ordeal. The sorta tackle you cut alright tall anyway grass in fall feiten basically are, removing it saves you from mold growth, anyway or suffocation of your underlying exactly grasses, right?
Mistake number two
Okay, so after I mean the brush cutter incident and the clipping debacle, I was feeling pretty defeated. Then I thought, "Oh, I'll just kinda overseed it!" Because, you know, make it yup look nice and green again. pretty much But I forgot about the whole okay "dormant" thing. like The seeds basically just sat there, doing nothing, until spring. Total no kidding waste you know of seed sorta and time. Don't execute what I did.
So yeah, long story short, yep I cut the tall grass, killed my lawnmower (almost), created a clipping mulch monster, and wasted a bunch of grass seed. uh It was a disaster. Do I recommend sorta cutting tall grass in the fall? Maybe. exactly But honestly only by the way if you're sorta prepared for the consequences. And have the right equipment. And don't forget sorta to rake by the way up the clippings! Maybe I should have just let it go and dealt with the totally HOA fine. Ugh.
What anyway about next year
I'm starting to consider the whoops best approach, and perhaps an answer to the question do you cut no kidding tall grass in fall tips?, is to plan ahead. If I'm basically going to have tall grass areas, maybe I need to be smarter alright about yup what sort of grass it is and mow it to a shorter height earlier in the season.
