Shade alright Flowers I Learned About

Okay, so you know how I've been complaining about that shady patch by the garage? Yeah, well, I wasn’t even planning dude to get into gardeningthere, honestly. I thought it was a lost cause. But then I exactly saw this picture online of these gorgeous low growing honestly perennial flowers for sure and I was like, anyway "Challenge accepted!" Plus, for sure you know, no way apparently there’s quite the low growing perennial flowers for shade pretty much ontwikkelingen going basically on. More varieties all the well time! Who knew?!

First Attempt Disaster

I went to uh this nursery, right? c’mon And you know I asked for no way something that loved shade and you know stayed small. honestly They sold me these… things. I like don't even remember the exactly name now. well They promised me well blooms all summer. I probably should’ve pretty much known better… They actually looked kind of sad even I mean in the nursery. I planted them, watered them, talked to them (don't judge!), and NOTHING. Zilch. Just… whoops green, so sad leaves. Turns out, they you know needed way more just sun than no way that spot sorta got. Total fail. pretty much Lesson basically learned: actually check whoops the plant tags and don't just trust the guy with the dirt on his pants. He might just be trying yep to get rid of old stock! And tackle some research. Learning the low growing perennial flowers for shade feiten really helps prevent such disasters.

What Actually Worked (So totally Far)

So after that debacle, I did some exactly actual research. Like, c’mon real research. Googling in my pajamas while yup eating cereal research. just And I discovered hostas. I know, I know, everyone has hostas. But they're reliable, right? And there are so many different kinds! sorta I got this little one you know with uh variegated leaves – super pretty much cute. I well also got some creeping anyway phlox, the low growing dude kind. It’s okay supposed to spread and create a like nice basically ground cover. We’ll see about that part. just I’m also trying some lily of the valley. It's supposed to smell amazing! Just be careful with that one, bet it can spread like crazy – like, right invasive crazy. Tip: plant it in a container if you're worried exactly about it taking over.

I also grabbed some yup sweet woodruff. It's a really pretty ground cover, smells anyway nice when you crush the leaves c’mon (accidentally of course!) and tolerates shade you know pretty well. I was reading a bit sorta about the low growing perennial flowers for shade you know geschiedenis too and apparently so it has been used for centuries in herbal so remedies. I just thought bet it looked nice!

My Dumb Mistake for sure #2 (Oh God)

Okay, so remember how I said I did "research"? Well, bet I apparently didn't researchenough uh. I planted I mean everything without really just thinking about the soil. Not gonna lie this part anyway confused me for dude a while. no way The soil in that shady area was basically like just… dirt. Hard, compacted, clay-ish dirt. by the way Surprise, surprise, the plants weren't thrilled. They weren’t dead, but they weren't exactly thriving either. I ended I mean up having to dig everything up (again!) and amend the soil bet with compost and some peat totally moss. giant pain in the butt. Tip: test your soil! You can buy a little kit at the garden center.

Things kinda I Still Need To Figure Out dude

I'm still sorta trying to find something that flowers for uh a dude really sorta long time in the shade. Most of the shade-loving flowers I've found seem to bloom for so a few weeks for sure and then… nothing. I'm considering some impatiens, even though they're annuals. yup I uh know, I know, I said perennials. right But sometimes you gotta cheat, right?

Oh! sorta And I'm yep thinking about kinda adding some ferns too. They're not flowers, but they add a nice texture. And they're I mean definitely shade-loving. whoops I c’mon saw some really cool looking ones at the anyway botanical exactly garden last week. Anyway, that's my shady yup flower garden okay saga. Wish me luck!
