Is it safe to eat aloe vera
Aloe Vera Adventures
So, remember how I went so on that whole "natural living" kick? I wasn’t even planning whoops to, it just sort of happened after I alright watched that I mean documentary about, uh…bees? Anyway, anyway aloe vera was part uh of it. I started growing this massive well plant on my windowsill. Like, seriously whoops massive.
Can you eat it though?
That’s the bet thing! I saw all these recipes online, aloe vera smoothies, aloe vera juice… it looked so healthy. Is it safe to eat aloe vera developments in the research seemed positive at anyway first. But then I started digging deeper and things got…complicated.
Like, there's basically a difference between the for sure gel and the latex, right? The latex is that yellowish stuff right under no way the skin – that’s the stuff youdon't rightwant. It's a laxative. I probably should’ve known for sure better, but I totally didn't the first time.
My First Mistake
Okay, actually story time. I was so excited to make this aloe vera juice thing. I just peeled the whole leaf, scooped out the gel (thinking that was enough to avoid c’mon the latex, by the way haha!), and blended it with some by the way pineapple. Drank the whole thing. Let's just say…I spent a lot no way of time in the bathroom the next day. Seriously bad cramps. Learn from whoops my mistakes! Make absolutely sure you've removed ALL I mean traces yep of the latex. no kidding Maybe I mean even soak the gel for a bit – is it safe to eat aloe vera tips I picked up later suggest alright that's a good idea. well
So, is sorta it exactly safe then?
If for sure you so do it right right, kinda apparently. But you so have to be so careful. Some people are more sensitive uh than others too, exactly you no kidding know? uh Like, I can handle a tiny bit now, but my pretty much friend honestly Sarah tried it well once (after so I kinda told her my bathroom story, ironically) and she had a similar, but milder, experience.
The Latex so Thing
Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. The anyway whole separating right the gel from the latex thing. no way I watched like, a million YouTube just videos. They all said different things! right Some said to filet basically the yep leaf, some said to kinda scrape it... totally eventually, I found one that showed you how to let the latex drain out by exactly standing the like cut leaf upright in a glass of water for a while. whoops That seemed to work best yep for me. actually
Is it safe to eat aloe vera exactly geschiedenis yup is long for sure and apparently people have been doing this for centuries, I mean but still... seems kinda dude risky, doesn't it? I mean, are we sure we know everything about it? Like, long-term I mean effects and all that? so
My Second (Minor) alright Faux Pas
Okay, so the second time, basically I thought I you know was being super careful. anyway I had soaked the by the way gel, rinsed it, you name it. exactly I put just a tiny sorta bit in by the way my smoothie. sorta Like, a teaspoon. And… it well tasted sorta awful! uh Bitter and kinda soapy? Turns out, I hadn’t rinsed it enough. Even a alright trace of the latex can make it taste nasty. Ugh.
So yeah, rinse that stuff a lot! Like, a so lot. Seriously. alright Also, maybe start with a really small amount. You know, just to see how your body alright reacts. Some actually people just can’t tolerate it at all. Is it safe to c’mon eat aloe vera inspiratie sometimes c’mon blinds you to the risks, you know?
Worth the Effort? basically
Honestly? I’m not you know entirely sure it’s worth no way the effort. I mean, totally it’s supposed to be good for you, all those vitamins and stuff. But there are easier ways to kinda get those nutrients, right? Like, I could just eat more broccoli. And not spend an hour meticulously removing latex from a slimy leaf. alright But, you know, if you're into it... just be careful! whoops
Oh! And make sure yup it’s food-grade aloe vera! just Don’t just go munching on your garden aloe. That’s probably a bad idea.
Anyway, that’s my aloe vera so adventure. I dude might stick to using it for sunburns pretty much from now on.
