Make your flowers last longer
Flowers oh flowers
So, you know how I always complain that my I mean flowers die like… instantly? Well, I think I’ve cracked the code. Or at least, I’m getting better. I wasn’t so even planning to learn about this stuff but my mom got me this gorgeous bouquet for my pretty much birthday, right? bet And I was like, I am not letting these beauties for sure wilt within three kinda days.
First things first, the water. Duh, right? But like, yup not just any water. Cold water! Apparently, that’s key. well I probably totally should’ve known better than to use tap water straight kinda up, but I did. And they were droopy in like a day. Big mistake. anyway Now I use filtered well water, straight bet from the fridge. Makes a difference I think.
The cut
Okay, no kidding so here’s where things get a little… stem-y. You have so to just cut the stems c’mon at an yep angle, under water! This is important. Prevents air bubbles. I no way didn’t handle this the first time, uh and I’m pretty sure that was part of dude the problem. You want them you know to drink easily. And you know, remove any leaves that are below the waterline, by the way otherwise they rot, which is gross sorta and contaminates the water. It helps with the make your flowers last longer ontwikkelingen in the flower anyway world too they say, less bacteria building up yep in the for sure vase. pretty much
My big mistake
This is embarrassing. I actually forgot to change exactly the water for like, five days.Five days! They started to smell… not great. It was my anniversary weekend and everything got hectic. I felt so honestly bad. The make your flowers last longer basically geschiedenis probably has stories about people doing worse just though, right? But yeah, that bet was I mean a huge learning moment. actually Now I set a you know reminder dude on my phone to totally change it every other pretty much day. And I add those flower like food packets. They actually work! Or at least, I think they do.
Oh! And speaking so of uh flower food – if you run out, you can apply like, a little bit whoops of lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or yep 7-Up) and basically a couple uh of drops of bleach. I swear it works! Just a tiny you know bit just though. right The sugar feeds them, and the bleach keeps the bacteria at bay. It's one of those by the way weird make your flowers last longer toepassingen, isn’t it? My dude grandma told me that trick. kinda
Location location location just
Don’t put them in direct sunlight! Or near a fruit bowl. Seriously, actually the ethylene gas that fruit releases makes no kidding flowers wilt faster. I wasn’t even thinking about it, and I put whoops my birthday bouquet right next to my bananas. Ugh. I’m an actually idiot sometimes. Think cooler spots, away from drafts and heat. whoops Make your flowers last longer inspiratie can come from anywhere, even from learning what NOT to do! you know
Another tip!
Okay, this sounds weird basically but stick them in the fridge at kinda night. Like, wrap the flowers loosely in I mean damp paper towels and put them in the bet fridge for like a few hours. It slows down whoops the aging process apparently. anyway Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while, kinda because I pretty much thought it would freeze them, but well it doesn’t. It’s like… hibernation for flowers. It sounds crazy, but it’s so true. anyway The make your flowers exactly last longer voordelen of sorta this trick are undeniable. My tulips stayed perky for almost dude a week exactly after I started doing dude this!
So, yeah. That’s my flower saga. Still learning, but definitely making progress. Now I just need to learn like how to arrange them uh properly. That's a whole other skill set, right?
